Waste Management in Bago Monastic Education; Pan Pyo Lat

July 10, 2024

Prevent Plastics Myanmar, in collaboration with Thant Myanmar, conducted practical training sessions and exercises at Pan Pyo Latt Monastic Education in Bago. The aim of this training was to share proper waste disposal methods and ways to reduce plastic usage to minimise environmental impact.

During the training period, a trainer-of-trainers session was provided to the monastery’s responsible persons and teachers on waste segregation, kitchen waste composting, garden debris, and properly incinerating non-recyclable waste with minimal environmental harm. Participants were enthusiastic and eager to learn.

The monks, teachers, and students at Pan Pyo Lat Monastery actively participated and responsibly practised systematic waste disposal and reduced plastic usage within the monastery grounds.

Even after the training period, members will continue working with the teachers and students at Pan Pyo Lat Monastery to ensure long-term sustainability. These sessions have not only reduced plastic usage but also raised awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.

Through the collaboration of Prevent Plastics Myanmar and Thant Myanmar, the monastery has actively engaged in environmental responsibility and plastic reduction. The team members will continue their efforts to reduce plastic usage, practice proper waste disposal, and protect the environment in the future.
