The Responsible Market event, World Environment Day 2024, held on June 5 – 7, 2024, was a valuable and memorable occasion. Organised by Prevent Plastics & UN-Habitat Myanmar, Myanmar Climate Action Network(M-CAN), in collaboration with City Mart Holding Co., Ltd and City Properties, it is an opportunity to contribute to Myanmar’s sustainable living and responsible consumption initiatives.

During the event, volunteers enthusiastically and patiently taught how to make Repa Bags (paper bags) and recycle Egg Boxes from cardboard boxes. Additionally, supported by Aung Mental Health Initiatives, people of all ages freely expressed their artistic feelings on long canvas.

Prevent Plastics Myanmar “Quiz for a Tote Bag counter attracts many shoppers who wish to learn more about topics on environmental sustainability, climate change, global warming, the circular economy, pollution, waste management, menstrual health, youth engagement & reuse/repurposing cultural through interactive questions, answers, seven youth lead discussion. Participants better understood what’s happening worldwide and were delighted to receive tote bags as prizes, which they could use to reduce single-use plastic.

Although there were only four small plants at the plant drop-off corner, they will be replanted in the needed area. 

Over the three days, our 1358 participants shared a joyful, exciting, and educational experience that was truly unforgettable. Special thanks are extended to everyone who attended, the volunteers who assisted, and the vendors who participated in making the Responsible Market successful.
