One of the three pillars of Prevent Plastics is the adoption of sustainable management practices in four industrial zones. The project works closely together with the governmental offices and organisations as well as the Industrial Zone Committees, Waste Service providers, and the private sector.
Besides initiating a Public-Private Dialogue with all relevant stakeholders and facilitating industrial symbiosis through the creation of a sustainable waste exchange platform, Prevent Plastics gives training and arranges workshops for the stakeholders of the project.View More
The second pillar focuses on the availability of eco-friendly packaging for consumers and producers. Prevent Plastics will work closely with the Myanmar Bank Association (MBA) and MSMEs that offer sustainable and natural packaging or waste disposal alternatives. The goal is to support the growth of selected green packaging enterprises. Therefore, Prevent Plastics promotes access to green loans since financial incentives are critical to foster sustainable strategies.View More
The third pillar of the project is to raise awareness among Myanmar consumers on the reduction and prevention of plastics. Since the awareness on various aspects of producing and managing waste are very limited in Myanmar, Prevent Plastics develops awareness-raising programs towards sustainable lifestyles focusing on waste avoidance, environmental consequences of waste and the benefits of efficient use of resources.
In addition to Social Media campaigns, Prevent Plastics is also planning to give training to school and work closely with different NGOs on this topic.View More
