Prevent Plastics Myanmar co-hosted “The Community; The Responsible Market promoting Reduce, Resell, Recycle” event with The Community youth organisation from 29th July to 31st July at Kantharyar Shopping centre to encourage thrift culture in an eco-friendly way and feature environmental awareness to the youths.
Over seven thousand (7,000) youth participate in shopping and engage in panel discussions on the circular economy and the impact of thrifting, recycling craft-making activities by Chue Chue and Hla Day, plus the vintage auction.
Following the success of volume one, Prevent Plastics Myanmar partnered with The Community team to shape volume 2 of The Community: The Responsible Market Promoting Reduce, Resell, Recycle with an elevated approach.
Aim of this Event: Clothing contributes to the plastic problem; the Ellen MacArthur Foundation estimates that half a million tons of plastic microfibers end up in the world’s oceans yearly from washing synthetic textiles such as nylon and polyester. So even if you buy a shirt, you can be recognised as the polluter of our planet.
During the event, the visitors can play several environmental awareness games to claim fashionable tote bags, explore the Augmented Reality (AR) filter experience and shop to feel the plastic-free shopping experience.
The Community: The Responsible Market Promoting Reduce, Resell, Recycle Vol 2
