Rural Waste Management at MaNaKhaw
In November, the waste management system and training were successfully conducted in the MaNaKhaw Village in Kachin State under EU SWITCH-Asia Programme, Prevent Plastics Myanmar and executed by Thant Myanmar. There are 92 households in MaNaKhaw village, mainly engaged in agriculture. Currently, there are two (2) garbage pits but no waste bin system in the village. Our team discussed with households, we were able to initiate a better systematic waste management system and a waste collection committee made up of MaNaKhaw youths. This January, the MaNaKhaw Village Waste Collection Committee has already started collecting the first household waste in the village.
