Today, August 12, marks International Youth Day, a day to honour and heighten the voices, visions, capabilities, challenges, and futures of young people who are the key drivers of change and creators of tomorrow.
Prevent Plastics+ has proudly initiated the YEAH Programme (Youth for Environmental Action and Hope), which has successfully completed three volumes. The programme is designed to equip youth with essential environmental knowledge while also nurturing their personal growth, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
Each volume of the YEAH Program has empowered young participants to explore, learn, and implement group projects. So far, five projects per volume have been completed, totalling 15 impactful projects across YEAH 1, 2, and 3, with 62 youth graduates.
These 15 projects have been carried out both online and on-ground in various regions of Myanmar, including Yangon, Mandalay, Pathein, Mon, Rakhine, Kayin, and Chin, featuring diverse environmental activities. Through these efforts, YEAH participants have reached and shared environmental knowledge with over 1,100 people nationwide.
On this International Youth Day, we celebrate and honour the youth involved in the YEAH Programme and those who have contributed to Prevent Plastics+. The future of our planet lies in the hands of young people, who will lead the way in driving meaningful change. The cleanliness and beauty of our world are closely tied to the decisions and actions of youth.
Let’s lead by example through sustainable living and an environmental conscious mindset so that together, we are POWER.
