Bicycles are easy to transport and maintain. They are also considered an eco-friendly mode of transportation. Owning a bike would be handy when you need quick and efficient transport! Is it in good condition or unused in a corner if you already have one?
Led by Thant Myanmar in collaboration with European Union in MyanmarEU SWITCH-Asia Programme Prevent Plastics+ project, a Bicycle Repair Day Event was organised. Due to the large number of bicycles needing repair, what was initially planned as a one-day repair journey had to be extended by another day.
Many bicycles needed repair in Star City, Thanlyin. However, there wasn’t a place to fix them. This event was organised to effectively repair the bicycles and get everyone back to riding again. Because of the well-organised setup and the high turnout, a Repair Corner was added to the residential area, and a new business opportunity for a bicycle repair technician was created.
To prevent bicycles from being left unused and unrepaired in storage, a small bicycle repair shop was opened to make repairs more accessible.
Instead of throwing them away when they break, let’s fix them as much as possible.
